One step forward, two steps back. Lately it seems like this little dance has become an effortless routine in my life. It's easy to let oneself fall into a sea of pity or self-sabotage. But what shows true character is how you dust yourself off from those hurdles, every awkward or embarrassing moment, each setback. How you decide to handle any similar situations to come. And that, my friends, is how you earn your stripes.

Sadly this is the final installment of the Summer Love Lookbook that Eda of Luxe and Linen and I have put together for you guys, but I'm sure it's not the last time we'll be spotted together (#SQUAD). Our last look is [st]ripe with promise and fully focused on a common pattern found aplenty in both of our closets.


Of course no summer look would be complete without Zero UV sunnies to bring in just the right amount of shade. Eda rocks her funky retro white pair while I opted for my grey bug-eyes.


I love Eda's effortlessly chic and equally comfy look where she chose to go with her gaucho pants and halter crop paired with some fun and chunky heels. She played on a monochromatic look and her shades only helped add that extra cherry on top of her already bold statement striped fit.


The striped Tobi crop top that I chose for this look was definitely a lust at first sight item. I actually spotted the top on our model while they were shooting it for the catalog images and I was going in and out of the studio grabbing accessories for my product flats shoot. The back was to die for and the thick material clutched at my heartstrings.

I decided to pair the top with my disco shorts for this look and since I was inspired by a more nautical theme. This is where my knee-highs come into play. They add more stripes to my fit as well as a cute little knit anchor detail on each side which I loved. I also thought they brought some softness and a bit more of a casual feel to the edgier material of the shorts. To finish it off I wore my white patent leather oxfords which I thrifted from Crossroads in almost-new condition some time ago, and my "Cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye" sunnies.
