Opening Act: Lickity Split

Wednesday, April 08, 2015

Festival season is upon us, and whether you're headed to Coachella this weekend, next, or not at all, it never hurts to get your wardrobe in the mood! For my mini-Festival lookbook I teamed up with Petals and Peacocks to bring you some looks that I would whip out if I were Indio-bound. This was a little challenging for me since out of all styles out there, I tend to shy away from boho or freeing festi-fits in general, but that's what made it all the more fun.

The Lickity Split Tank is one of my favorites from the Petals Spring 2015 collection because it's so silly and reminiscent of two of my favorite emojis. The soft, loose material and deep cut of the carefully destroyed muscle tank is perfectly breezy enough to battle any of that festival heat.

It was pretty difficult to find bottoms that I liked and wanted to pair with this top, and I went through a bunch of different looks before deciding upon these Kit Ikat Shorts from Tobi. I liked that they were sheer, soft fabric that wouldn't get sticky in the heat and I loved that the colors matched my Barbie pink hair. Plus the pom poms were a cute little touch, and the print was tie-dye for!

I threw on sunnies that matched both the shorts and top with its tint, and of course my go-to wide brim hat. If you follow me on Instagram it may seem like the same hat popping up on your timeline... but I actually own quite a variety of these babies. They're my addiction! A longtime habit I still haven't been able to kick. This particular round-brim hat was practically a steal from Aldo.

To add some more movement and flow to my fit, I mixed in this purse from Tobi which was actually a pretty surprising pick for me. I've stuck to my same baby MBMJ purse for years, but it's been getting worn out and I don't want it to die on me so I decided to give it a little rest. I loved the funky fringe on this purse and the detailing, it just felt like it helped touch up any outfit and I was immediately drawn to it. And for comfort without having to lack style, I resorted to my cut-out, cap-toe Jeffrey Campbell boots which I got from Nasty Gal some time ago.

Though I love the heat and am drawn to 75+ degree weather, even I have my limits and during any all-day event the need for a cute, no-fuss fit is too real. With their festival-friendly funk and witty graphics, Petals and Peacocks came in perfectly with the assist to create exactly that vibe.

For those of you who are Coachella-bound, have a safe and memorable trip! Thanks for checking out my opening act & be sure to head back to the stage for my headlining look featuring my absolute favorite tee from Petals next week! xx
