Smells Like Teen Spirit

Now that the hella storm has passed and things have fallen to a more steady seasonal beat, I thought it would be fun to share one of my attempts at facing cold weather! Anyone who knows me can tell you that I love the heat so much that I refuse to even acknowledge the cold's existence, and my personal style only reflects this. But since I'll be an official San Francisco resident on this same upcoming weekend that Winter officially begins, I thought it was only fitting that I try to cool down my wardrobe a bit.

Rainy days call for comfort, and what better way to get comfy and simultaneously show my disdain for the dreary weather than with my favorite classic Nirvana "Corporate Rock Whores" pullover? I love the soft and loose feel of this sweatshirt. Not just because it is of one of the few significantly influential bands from my childhood, but also due to the fact that it falls into two categories of things I always tend to gravitate towards: graphics and oversized tops. Falling in line with the comfort theme and in attempt to contrast the overall dark palette of my look, I paired the top with these semi-baggy light denim bf jeans I got quite some time ago from Tobi.

As much as I do love this sweatshirt, it still wasn't enough to keep me warm, which is where my Talula jacket from Aritzia came in handy. Utility jackets are definitely a staple piece that most California girls already have hanging in their closets, and for good reason. I love this one in particular because they do have significantly smaller sizing available and amazingly durable quality. Instead of just sticking with the same ole' jacket in this case however, I decided to add on my faux shearling collar from Nasty Gal. I've had this piece for a while now and I love it because it can switch up any outerwear into something that seems entirely brand new, and it brings some much needed flair to any winter look.

Dr. Martens have been around for decades, and are one of those staple brands that will continue to stick around for many generations to come. They are a classic wardrobe must-have and these patent pair in particular are my favorite, especially in rainy weather. Since I am more on the petite side, rainboots are not my first choice in fairweather footwear. But I also hate getting my feet soaked like anyone else, hence resorting to these sturdy dudes because they keep my feet stylish and puddle-free without the added clunk factor. A deep wine-burgundy hue is always a winter favorite, so to finish off my look and tie it all together, I wore this berry American Apparel beanie and touched up my lips with NYX soft matte lip cream in copenhagen. xx—

With the lights out...

Thanks for checking back in with me, and be sure to come through again next week!
