Hollywood Dreams in Hollywood Seams

Saturday, May 10, 2014

I can remember the weekend I came down to L.A. months ago to scope out apartments almost completely vividly. I totaled my first car that weekend, so it was definitely a memorable one. I also fell in love with Hollywood Boulevard, and even more in lust with Los Angeles. The exciting and adventurous side of L.A. will always speak to a certain side in me, and I wanted to do a post in a "very LA" place... All that being said, I do love me some Los Angeles hot hot heat! I'm a girl who likes to wear light layers, so I definitely enjoy that aspect of LA. I got a chance to take one of my classic LBDs out of the closet last week when Leanna and I decided to walk the boulevard for a photoshoot of sorts, and I decided to get a lil crafty with accessorizing...

I absolutely adore body chains but they are the most frustrating things to accessorize with. This is just largely due to the fact that they get caught on anything and then risk breaking... literally, anytime you wear it. Mine is actually a year-old from Nasty Gal and broke a couple months back, but I liked this particular one for this outfit. So instead of having to keep tying and re-tying the broken chains together every so often, I decided to keep it propped up with an old Obey denim top I thrifted years back. This way, the shirt was both an accessory, and helped keep my body chain in place.

We found these doors near the Egyptian museum on the boulevard and I absolutely fell in love with them as well as the art depicted on the walls surrounding them. It was a nice little secluded find on one of the busiest, most tourist-filled spots in the city.

To top off my look, I wore my timbs and tied a red bandana around my hair to keep my neck free of any extra unnecessary heat. The Obey shirt later helped me layer up differently when it got a bit windier in the evening too. I went for a dark lip with this outfit because it just felt like it pulled the entire outfit together, personally. Though the shade looks similar to Cyber by MAC, it's actually by Makeup Forever! However, it stays on point and the shade is literally the exact same as Cyber, because I did a swatch test more than once to assure myself! Haha. It's definitely one of my favorites/signature lippy's.
